FBC is grateful to God for the visit of Mike and Marie Brunk this weekend. We learned a lot from 1 Corinthians 3, and enjoyed their festive South African apparel for church today!
Remember our meeting tonight at 7pm with Mike & Marie Brunk. Pastor Brunk will be speaking from 1 Corinthians 3 for this weekend's Bible conference. Tomorrow the men meet at 8am, ladies at 11am. Sunday Pastor Brunk will minister in both the 9:45 and 10:45 services. Hope to see you! Through grace, Pastor Matt Postiff
CALLING ALL CHRISTIANS TO PRAY! Yes, this is your call to prayer. If you are a Christian and are a member of a church, go to the mid-week meeting for prayer. The needs are enormous: the lost that need Christ, increasing evil in the world, political wrangling, broken homes, missing children, abortion, and a thousand other things. Not to mention that prayer honors God! Is there no mid-week or other corporate prayer at your church? Then you are invited tonight at 6:30pm to pray with Fellowship Bible Church. We look forward to praying together.
Thank you Emily Monty Bush for sprucing up the Kornilakis memorial flower garden Fellowship Bible Church. We are grateful for your work. Now our front entrance is looking ready for Good Friday and Resurrection Day services! We welcome all to come at 7pm Friday, 8:30am for Sunday's sunrise service, 9:30am Sunday for breakfast, 10:45am Sunday for worship, and 6pm on Sunday for Bible study.
We Condemn Infanticide You may have read in history how various cultures have handled "unwanted" babies. One common technique was to use exposure in the elements to kill a baby. Cold, dehydration, or hunger were used to kill the baby, probably out of sight and the sound of the cries of the little one. How cruel and barbaric such murder was. Human society has not progressed at all over the centuries. I woke up this morning to learn that the New York State Senate passed the so-called reproductive health act... Great time today at Hackathon2. We were able to develop Android Bible apps for six languages, with the potential to reach nearly 750,000 people in those language groups. Pray for one of our programmers who was in a car accident on the way to the event today. His name is Jason. He is OK. His car is not.
The church is OPEN tomorrow despite the snowy weather. If you cannot make it, or your church is closed entirely, please accept our invitation to call in to listen to our services at 9:45am, 10:45am, and 6pm. Call 641-715-3580 and use participant access code 811864#. Once you are in, press *6 to mute your individual line. This is not a toll-free number. Unfortunately, some carriers like MetroPCS prevent access to this service from their phones.
A lot of discussion online the last day or two about closing church on Sundays and what reasons are valid? Too tired? Some say let's close the church and not hold worship on Sunday. Bad weather? Pretty obvious. What we do is offer a teleconference call-in for some prayer meetings and worship services. This allows those who can't come due to bad weather or being shut-in to participate in a meaningful way. Of course it is not the same as being with the saints. We don't stream video (yet), but the audio is in some ways better because you don't have visible distractions, and more importantly it is two-way. We can converse, pray together, ask questions, etc. The norm is to gather for worship every Sunday. When that is providentially not feasible, we can use technology to help people have a connection to their local assembly.
Do you work on Sunday mornings and so cannot make it to church? No problem. Come Sunday evenings at 6pm, or Wednesdays at 6:30pm. We at Fellowship Bible Church are here to serve you as we serve the Lord. And just maybe you will find this a place to serve the Lord too, as you serve others.
Thanks to everyone who participated in last weekend's Christmas program. It was a great time!
Just a reminder from the FBC Team that our Christmas program is this afternoon at 3:30pm. See you there. And thanks to a generous donor, we are able to sport these new fleece jackets with the FBC logo!
Post a comment if you know where these fliers are posted. They are somewhere around Ann Arbor...
A simple get-well encouragement from one of our youngest in the church to someone who was hospitalized yesterday. May both of you be especially blessed by the Lord--you know who you are!
We are very happy to report that Fellowship Bible Church of Howell has begun to support JoeandBonnie Valentin in their important work with Bibles International. It is a blessing to see this growth in the ministry of FBC Howell! FBC Howell also supports the work of The Wears to Portugal.
Today was the Bibledit Hackathon. We had a good group of very skilled programmers. We shared lots of tips and tools, did a good amount of coding, fixed one bug, added a new Greek textual apparatus database, and generally had a good time doing some in-depth tech work. Watch for the next Hackathon in early 2019!
We remembered one of our own who is in heaven--Hayden Smith. Dad Bill's display of flowers and a picture helped us today. Thank you William Smith for letting us remember with you and your family!
Very thankful to hear that The Wears to Portugal were commissioned at their home church in Charlotte, Michigan. The service was August 3. May the Lord bless you richly, David Wears and Michelle Wears and your children, as you launch out into gospel ministry! --Pastor Matt Postiff, Fellowship Bible Church of Ann Arbor
VBS starts 9:30am Monday morning 7/30! The time machine is up and running!
Day 2 at the Art Fair. We were joined today in the second shift by Tim Munger of The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc. More great conversations with many people. If you are at Art Fair and don't know much about Christianity (or think you know a great deal about it), please stop by the booth. We enjoy interacting with everyone. But don't be surprised if you are challenged about your beliefs. If they don't line up with the Bible, why not?
What an opportunity to speak with those attending the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original and the other art fairs running simultaneously in downtown Ann Arbor. We gave out a number of Bibles, tracts, words of encouragement, questions to challenge the minds of some who spoke with us, and a lot of candy too. The pictures show our six workers today. See you tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday!
